On September 9 and 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized 30 diplomatic envoys and diplomats in China from 20 countries to visit Suzhou for a local exchange event to advance international exchanges and mutual learning.

As part of the event "EXPLORE PEOPLE-CENTERED CITIES: CHINA’S GOVERNANCE GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT", the diplomatic delegation first visited IKINGTEC, a low-altitude infrastructure company in Wuzhong District. At the enterprise exhibition hall, the delegates were deeply impressed by cutting-edge innovative products integrating AI and low-altitude technology. They learned in detail about the fully autonomous UAV inspection system.

Koula Sophianou, Ambassador of Cyprus to China, noted that this marked her first visit to Suzhou. What she saw and heard was an eye-opener. She witnessed the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and a host of technology products benefiting local residents. She also observed that many scientists engaged in AI research are remarkably young.

Tonata Itenge-Emvula, Ambassador of Namibia to China, noted that from her country’s perspective, the most appealing aspect is that such technologies can deliver services directly to communities. They enable rapid response in medical rescue, firefighting and other scenarios, making urban and government services timelier and more efficient.

At the subsequent forum on innovative urban governance, delegates shared insights centering on urban cooperation, while relevant municipal authorities delivered presentations.

Md Nazmul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to China, noted that Suzhou is not only a scenic city. Relying on efficient institutional mechanisms, it effectively translates emerging technologies into solutions for practical challenges including ecological conservation and emergency response. This offers valuable references for Bangladesh’s digital development.

During the stay in Suzhou, the delegation also toured the Suzhou Industrial Park Exhibition Center to learn about its transformation from low-lying farmland into a modern industrial new town. They strolled along the right bank of Jinji Lake and visited landmarks such as the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sculpture “Flying”.

Chalongkwan Tavarayuth, Counsellor at the Royal Thai Embassy in China, noted that Suzhou’s "double-sided embroidery", a metaphor for its integration of tradition and modernity was fascinating. The visit allowed her to witness the real picture of urban construction in Suzhou, which was why she could not stop taking photos. This field trip helped her perceive the city’s development potential from multiple perspectives of urban development.
