Xiamen Friendship City Photo Exhibition highlights ocean sustainability
The 2026 Xiamen Friendship City Photo Exhibition, themed "Together for a Sustainable Ocean", opened at the Xiamen International Expo Center on September 8th. The opening ceremony brought together representatives from Xiamen's sister cities, including Klang in Malaysia and Cardiff in the United Kingdom, along with Chinese and international guests attending CIFIT.
This year's exhibition brings into focus environmental conservation and cultural heritage of Xiamen and other coastal cities including Surabaya in Indonesia, Klang in Malaysia, and Cardiff in the UK, with a view to advancing practical exchanges and cooperation on sustainable ocean development.
Since forming its first international sister-city partnership with Cardiff in 1983, Xiamen has established 24 such relationships worldwide. Building on these extensive ties, the photo exhibition serves as a flagship people-to-people diplomacy initiative. This year's exhibition will also be staged in the Maritime Silk Road Legal Services District, the Xiamen Library, and the MixC.
